Benefits of meditation

Meditation, a mind-body exercise, is done for being relaxed. It helps to develop a strong mind. Taking less than 20 minutes of meditation with a few light exercises or yoga is strongly recommended to relieve stress and exhaustion. It develops with thousands of years of history and spiritual motivation.

Modern science has established that meditation is a healthy and relaxing daily practice. There are many beneficial effects of meditation.

It has good effects on our mind as well as on our body. But spending a little time from our daily life is difficult due to our misconceptions, confusions and lack of strong motivation to meditate. Busy daily life is also responsible for it. But if we try a little, we can overcome all of these things and be strongly motivated to meditate. So, let’s try to find some important beneficial effects of meditation.

  • It sharpens the mind: Meditation causes the flow of your thinking beyond your life. During meditation, you see everything in a nonjudgmental way. It will help you to sharpen your mind by gaining focus and expanding your thoughts.
  • Get rid of anxiety: Some experts advise doing meditation at night before sleeping. Because it helps to get rid of stress and you can have a sound sleep. If you do meditation in the morning, it will also be helpful for you. Some meditation practitioners take a meditation break for few minutes during their work time.
  • Emotional stability: It helps us to be strong and confident. An emotionally unstable person should take meditation for mental stability. Meditation teaches us to flow our mind as well as strong mindfulness to get rid of its hindrances.

With meditation, the physiology undergoes a change and every cell in the body is filled with more energy because it causes increased oxygen inhalation and blood circulation in our body. This result in joy, peace, enthusiasm as the level of prana (energy) in the body increases.

  1. Improves mood and behaviour: Some study shows meditation causes releases of serotonin which improves our mood and behaviour. This is because it acts as an antidepressant.
  1. Decrease tension related headache: Meditation relieves us from stress and decreases tension-related pains such as headaches, ulcers, insomnia etc.
  2. Relieve from musculoskeletal pain: Meditation has a strong effect on anxiety neurosis and some neurological pains. In addition, it helps adult and peri-menopausal females to get rid of fibromyalgia-like muscle and joint problem.
  3. Reduce blood lactate: Meditation in the aerobic environment, even deep breathing in the home environment causes increase oxygenation of blood in lungs and increases blood supply to tissue, which causes reduction of producing lactic acid, which is a predisposing factor of an anxiety attack.
