Home remedies of acme

Acne is a red skin rash, irritating to the skin and almost universal among individuals going through the teenage years in developed societies. However, it can occur at all ages. Usually, acne affects the skin of the face, upper chest, and upper back and rarely the neck and upper arms. In young people, it occurs due to several physical and hormonal changes.

It also can be exacerbated due to depression and mental depression. Left untreated, severe acne can lead to scarring, which can be hard to treat.

We will discuss some home remedies that are used to treat and prevent acne flare-ups. Besides medication, these remedies work excellent against acne.

General measures

At first, some general measures should be followed like-

  • Wash your face and other affected skin gently twice or thrice a day.
  • Do not squeeze pimples because that often leads to infections, worse acne, and scars.
  • Use ice over a pimple or acne lesion for few seconds repeatedly for 2-3 minutes to reduce inflammation. Do it twice daily.

 

Baking Soda

Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is a very good gentle for the skin of your face. It unplugs the pores and cleans dead skin. It also helps regulate the skin's pH balance and act as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic agent.

To use it, mix –

  • Two tablespoons baking soda
  • One teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Five tablespoons honey.

Apply it gently on your face and wash your face after 5 to 6 minutes. Use baking soda once or twice a week to clean your skin. It will be beneficial to reduce acne problems.

 

Orange Peel

The acidic property and the high amount of vitamin C in orange juice make it an excellent remedy for acne. Their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory property with the acidic environment is helpful to reduce inflammation and clean your skin. You also can use the juice from orange peel, which is more effective.

To use it-

-        Put orange peel in the sun to dry it out completely.

-        Grind the dried peel into a powder

-        Add water with the powder and make a paste.

-        Apply the paste over the affected area of your skin for 10 to 15 minutes. Then wash your face with warm water.

 

Lemon Juice

The acidic property of lemon juice can be beneficial to clean your skin and treating acne. It will clean out dirt that has accumulated in the pores.

To use it-

  • Rub a piece of lemon on the acne-affected skin and leave it for a few hours and then rinse your face with water.
  • Rosewater can also be mixed with lemon juice in equal amounts and used to wash the affected area for a few minutes.

You can use lemon water on your skin daily, but over too drying skin, it should be used every two or three days.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is helpful to reduce acne because it cleanses your skin pores and absorbs excess oil.

To use it-

  • Mix 1 teaspoon of honey and the juice of half a lemon with 1 cup of cooked oatmeal.
  • Rub this over your skin and leave it on for 30 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

Try to do this once or twice a week.

 

Aloe Vera Gel

The anti-inflammatory property of Aloe Vera is very effective to treat acne. It will reduce your symptoms within few days. Aloe Vera gel is also helpful in healing the scars caused by acne.

To use it-

Buy Aloe Vera gel from the nearest market or get pure Aloe Vera gel by cutting an Aloe Vera plant leaf and squeezing the gel from the middle. Apply the Aloe Vera gel to the affected area twice daily for 10-15 minutes.

 

Indian Lilac

Indian lilac, locally known as Neem, can be used for the treatment of various skin problems. It has strong antiseptic and antimicrobial properties and helps to reduce inflammation and skin infection. It soothes the redness and inflammation of skin breakouts. It is also very helpful to treat acne and reducing the scar formed by acne.

To use it-

-        Make a paste of tender Indian lilac leaves by adding a little water.

-        Add some turmeric powder to the paste and then apply it to the affected area.

-        Leave it on for 20 minutes, and then wash it off.

Do this at least twice a week.

You can also apply Neem oil a few times a day for rapid improvement.

 

Fuller’s Earth

Fuller’s earth, also called ‘Multani Mitti’ is very good for acne-prone skin. It absorbs excess oil and unclogs pores without over-drying your skin.

 

To use it-

-        Mix equal proportions of Fuller’s earth, sandalwood powder and rose water and make mud.

-        Apply this mixture pack to your face.

-        Wash after it dries up.

-        Try to do this at least once a week.

 

Garlic and Turmeric

Garlic and turmeric have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral as well as anti-inflammatory properties and a strong weapon to fight pimples.

To use them-

- Cleanse your face at first.

- Crush six garlic cloves; add 2-3 spoonfuls of Manuka honey and a tiny amount of turmeric powder. Mix and apply over acne-affected skin.

- Clean it after drying.

Try to do this twice or thrice a week.

 

Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil is widely used for facial washing and cleaning by skin and beauty experts. It’s a natural antiseptic and has antibacterial properties. The fact is commercial products often contain a relatively small amount of oil. Using the oil in a higher dose gives a much better impact.

             

To use it-

  • Rub a small amount of tea tree oil onto blemishes. Please keep it for a few minutes and then wash it thoroughly.

 

These are some home remedies for acne management. But lifestyle changes, avoiding spicy and oily foods, relieving stress and leading a healthy life is also essential to control and treat acne. Acne treatment sometimes becomes tough.  Consult with a doctor if you are facing a severe acne problem.
